Pre Departure Post

We have all been working hard and doing a lot of background research in order to get ready for the trip. The week leading up to our departure has gone by very fast. All of the students have been getting excited for the trip. However, it still hasn’t set in for me that we fly out tomorrow. No one was very eager with the idea of having to wake up at 2am in order to be at the airport by 7:30am. So, we started the trip today by driving to Toronto to stay in a hotel for the night.  Most of us got together for dinner tonight since we are staying in hotels near each other.

While in Jamaica we will be staying at a resort in Ocho Rios and travelling to the Fern Forest Eco-Village to gather more information.  The Eco-Village is located in the Great Fern Forest and home to the largest collection of ferns in the English Speaking Caribbean. We will be helping the owners of the Fern Forest Eco-Village with several key areas of interest. These areas include the types and prices of accommodations that will be offered, summer camps for youth and wedding packages.
We are all eager to see the Fern Forest Eco-Village in person and explore the Great Fern Forest, as well as other excursions near Ocho Rios.  This week’s very cold weather here in North Bay is making it easy to look forward to the warm weather and great experiences that are waiting for us in Jamaica!
